Success Story: The Rice Family
Aultman Success Story - The Rice Family

Chrissy and Kevin Rice have two children. Their son entered the world in the former Aultman labor and delivery department, while their daughter arrived in the new Aultman Birth Center.

Although both birthing experiences were positive, the Rices enjoyed the enhanced level of comfort and privacy at the Aultman Birth Center.

“I liked staying in the birthing room, not having to leave and go through the hallways,” Chrissy said. “Giving birth wasn’t as scary the second time around because I knew what to expect – and knowing I was going to stay in one room helped. I was able to unpack and get settled before our daughter was born.”

Chrissy praised the Birth Center team for the care she received during childbirth. “My labor and delivery nurse, Nelda Andrews, was wonderful from the get-go,” Chrissy recalled. “The other nurses, Dr. David Brandau and the resident physician all took great care of me.”

In addition to giving birth at Aultman, the Rice family utilized Aultman Family Education Center resources. “Before our son was born, Kevin and I took a weekend class that covered everything from giving birth to baby care,” Chrissy offered. “After our daughter was born, I enjoyed working with an Aultman lactation consultant.”

As the Rice family embarked on an exciting, new chapter in life, Kevin couldn’t help but reflect on the past. “My wife and I are from this area. I was born at Aultman,” he said. “And here we are now … having children of our own.”
