Aultman Physicians

Aultman's physicians specialize in more than 40 areas of medicine, ranging from heart and cancer care to emergency medicine to pediatrics. Nearly 700 physicians are on the Aultman medical staff, including 583 active staff members. 96 percent of Aultman physicians are board certified.

Physician Leaders
Aultman values the insight and leadership of our physicians. Department chairmen and other elected officers of the medical staff represent and provide oversight to their specific department or committee as Medical Policy Board members. Medical Education
More than 200 Aultman physicians teach and mentor resident physicians and medical students. It is through the generous sharing of physicians' knowledge and expertise that we are able to provide medical education for more than 300 physicians-in-training each year.

Each physician enters into postgraduate training in the specialty of his/her choice through residency training. Aultman Hospital offers residencies in family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, radiology, transitional year and osteopathic family medicine.

Aultman residents provide outstanding care to underinsured and uninsured members of our community through the Aultman Physician Center. Staffed by resident physicians and teaching attending physicians, the center physicians offer medical services including primary care, obstetrics/gynecology and after-hours care for non-emergency situations.

Medical Research
Research is the medical community's method of exploring the frontiers of medical knowledge and skills. Aultman's physicians participate in research studies being conducted nationwide. These studies bring opportunities for treatments to our patients that would otherwise be unavailable. This dedication to new knowledge is evidence of our physicians' desire to continuously strive toward excellence. The journey continues through their inquiry. Aultman Hospital utilizes two Human Research Review Boards (HRRB) to advance these studies and to assure that patient-centered care is accomplished.

During the 2008-2009 academic year, the HRRB approved 43 new research studies. These research studies were submitted by the medical staff (19); the nursing staff (12); residents (10) and social workers (2). Studies ranged from clinical investigations of FDA-regulated drugs to case studies to nursing research projects.
